Combination of shapes and materials, contemporary jewelery is the mark of a signature, an ever-evolving aesthetic research.

Students from four schools, Liege, Brussels, Châtelet and Arlon gathered their creations on the theme of the limit.

Students of different ages and backgrounds arising in actors and expose their creation, without borders or boundaries, with real freedom in expression and creativity.

With a touch of humor or derision, these creators give visions and different approaches of the theme. As well they try to engage the public on the limits to (not) exceed.

Works by students and students of jewelry:

- The Academy of Fine Arts, Arlon,
- The Academy of Drawing and decorative arts Gustave Camus, Chatelet,
- The School of armory, engraving, jewelry and fine mechanical Léon Mignon, Liege,
- The Institute of adornment and jewelery, Brussels,

March 31 to May 20, 2012, the WCC-BF will give way to this work of young students whose goal is to exceed the result to be achieved.

COLLECT 2012

Given the great success of its designers at the 2011 edition,  the WCC-BF will be present at the prestigious COLLECT show again.
Meeting point for collectors, galleries and museums active in the sector of applied arts, organised every year by the Crafts Council at the Saatchi gallery of London, Collect puts this year 31 galleries forward, picked and chosen from all around the world.
The WCC-BF will take part to that unmissable event with a selection of 8 artists renowned in the domains of ceramics and goldsmithing.

Caroline Andrin – Skin Game
After "boire dans les mains d'un inconnu" (drinking from a stranger's hands), where she dealt with functions and our relations to everyday objects, Caroline Andrin offers another series named "Skin Game".
The Skin Game series presents a set of trophies. Each trophy is produced from a pair of leather gloves. The diversion of the original object (the leather glove) leads to an imaginary bestiary about skin.

Nilton Cunha
Nilton Cunha explores goldsmithing the way an alchemist would.
The matter is being transformed, transmuted, precious metals return to the form of molten lava and with the artist's intuition, turn into a volume. He touches the metal, models it, shapes it and gets carried away by its physical and metaphysical sensuality.

Vincent Kempenaers
Breaking down the barriers separating practical ceramics from sculptural research, Vincent Kempenaers explores and naturally blends both movements, its practical workpieces are adorned with symbols while his sculptures and installations flirt with daily life. Whilst getting back to the sources of clay work where a bowl is fully a piece of art, he joyfully breaks the codes.

Anne-Marie Laureys
For HITTE/HEAT, Anne Marie explores the bounds of ceramics, aiming to broaden its horizons. To this effect, she starts from archetypes shaped on the wheel. The clay's elasticity enables her to go beyond the limits of the frame. By putting workpieces out of shape, she obtains disparate elements that she reassembles as her hands wish to, so as to obtain an organic figure. This way anthropomorphic objects come to life, arousing a carnal and passionate sensation.

Thérèse Lebrun
Thérèse Lebrun's ceramics recall fossils. Objects dropped on the seabed and of which only the imprint remains. Arrangements of translucid shapes obtained from plant material, the only memories of which are this delicate porcelain paper shell and some coloured traces.

Jean Claude Legrand
Purely graphical, Jean Claude Legrand’s work strongly relates to minimalism. His compositions’ departure point is usually the square or cube shape that he cuts and reshapes.
Textures, cuts, graphics and colors confer to his sculptures a climate of balance and plainness...

Hugo Meert
Hugo Meert observes everyday objects, diverts and distorts them. He keeps up a taste for objects bearing cultural or visual messages. His workpieces question on their own nature, this way a vase self-wrecks, a set of everyday objects becomes functional only once smashed. Over the past twenty years, this master of "shape and irony" has created a intriguing ceramics collection, characterised by a subtle "terrar" touch.

Antonino Spoto
Antonio Spoto defines his work as being at the boundary between pottery and ceramics. Ever simple shapes come to life from the potter's wheel and by the harmony they exude, become essential and unsettling.

All the artists will be present at the show to welcome visitors and present their work.
