WCC-Europe EUNIQUE Award for Contemporary Crafts 2011
was given at “EUNIQUE – arts & crafts”, International Fair for Applied Arts and Design, in Karlsruhe/Germany
The winner is…
In the last year the Board of World Crafts Council-Europe had decided to create a special “WCC-Europe EUNIQUE Award” which will be given now every year in Karlsruhe at the “EUNIQUE - arts & crafts", International Fair for Applied Arts and Design, which was held 2011 from May 27 to 29, 2011.
The EUNIQUE fair meanwhile has established as the leading trade fair for applied arts and design in continental Europe. Some 350 exhibitors from 20 countries were on display with their newest works. They have been accepted by a jury amongst a great number of applicants. Only one-of-a-kind works and small series have been presented.
The criteria for the WCC-Europe EUNIQUE award are: fine original craftsmanship, choice of appropriate material for the object and originality. The award which the WCC-Europe gives is an artistic rather than a monetary one, as it is a price symbolic of the artistic excellence of craftsmanship, on an international level. The prize winner’s donation is a diploma, the WCC-Europe honorary membership and a free booth for the next years EUNIQUE.
The Jury selecting the award winner had been appointed by WCC-Europe.
